I am freaking out! My Mom and Dad keep coming up to me acting like they are gong to pet me, but instead they SMELL MY EARS!!! It is really weird and embarrassing. Then, they make awful faces and put horrible stuff down in my ears twice a day! As if that isn’t bad enough, I overheard my Mom and Dad talking about my ears after one of their “sniffs” (I thought dogs were the ones who sniffed) and I heard the dreaded word “V.E.T.” I immediately left the room and tried to hide where they would not be able to find me. But they did. Now I have to go the vet tomorrow morning and I am scared! What if they give me a shot? What if they take my temperature you-know-where? What if they put something way down in my ears? What should I do? I thought about running away from home, but I have it pretty good here.
Ahhhhh…the smelly ears. Yes, that is a problem for humans, and actually they do start to itch if something isn’t done about them. However, I think you overlooked the advantages of going to the vet. First, you will get multiple treats if you play your cards right. Go in there trembling. Resist when your mom or dad tries to pull you into the treatment room. That, my friend, gets you lots of treats – they will bribe you. Then, once you have established you are terrified, you will receive continual treats the whole time you are at your appointment. Score! Second, once you get home, likely with more stuff to put down your ears, your mom and dad will feel sorry for you and give you treats every time they put in the drops. In addition, you will find that you get more treats, new toys, and more snuggle time. WORK IT!
