I am a cute, fluffy, adorable and loyal Pomeranian (pure bred, of course). My parents love me (as if, who wouldn’t?) and take me everywhere with them. 99% of the time I love going with them. I can’t imagine them having any fun without me. There is this one issue though, and it has to do with the airplane. Truth be told, I am terrified of flying. I see my parents’ suitcases come out and my “flying house” (a pink, sparkly soft crate, that has all my favorite things in it). Yet still. Even though I ride under the seat, right by my Mom’s feet, the airplane noises are loud and scary, and sometimes I even get sick (which is really embarrassing). Admittedly, I like when we get to our destination (usually it is the beach). The airports aren’t too bad either because I get lots of attention (because of my beauty, of course) and pets. Do you have any suggestions on how to overcome my fear of flying?
Scared in the air
Let me get this straight. You get on airplane WITH your Mom and Dad right by you (not in the underneath part of the plane, where it is REALLY dark and scary, and Mom and Dad are NOT nearby). You have a special flying house decorated to the nine’s with treats and toys galore. You get petted on the front and back end by millions of people at the airport. Girlfriend you need to let that fear go. It will hold you back, and if you keep being a pain in the **** when you travel, your Mom and Dad will leave you home and put you in a kennel. No beach, no pets at the airport, no sparkly flying house. I would suggest you suck it up and learn how to meditate. As soon as you see the suitcases and the flying crate come out, begin meditation by breathing long breaths in and out and telling yourself over and over “I am brave. I am not scared. I am brave. I am not scared.” Do the same thing when you get on the flight. Meditation, my friend, is your key to freedom and the beach life!
