I am a super smart, fast and agile show dog quality Australian Shepard. I am sure you can relate here, a little. The problem is that my Mom serves me the same food OVER and OVER for days – breakfast and dinner – same. She may think to throw in a few bites of Dad’s sausage or eggs from breakfast, or bites of steak, rice or chicken from dinner, but overall it is the SAME SAME SAME. I have tried to tell her by going on a hunger strike. It works for a meal or two because she worries about me not eating (LOL). THEN she will make eggs for me – my favorite. And then…back to the same ol’ same ol’. Being the smart Aussie that I am, I’ve tried to tell her in so many ways…CHANGE THE FOOD WOMAN! Do you have any other ideas I could try?
Astin, the beautiful Aussie Shepard
Hmmm, that can be a dilemma for you as an “Aussie”. You have to realize your bred is known for being finicky and bossy. Quite honestly, it sounds like you are a spoiled brat. You should think about all the starving dogs who roam the streets or who live in a shelter. Your Mom could easily send your food to them. So, my advice is to quit whining and be grateful for your “same” food. If you just can’t help yourself, try the ol’ Border Collie failsafe trick: STARE OBSESSIVELY at your bowl, then your Mom, then back to your bowl, then your Mom, and so on. You will eventually win the staring contest and she will cave. Good luck!
